The president of the CALIFORNIA SPORTS CLUB Inc and the founder of California Fencing Academy, and DBA; California Archery Center, California Outdoor Adventures, Tibbetts Natural Horsemanship, Tibbetts School of Shooting, Tibbetts Tenkara & Fly. Dan is formally trained, certified to train teachers in the disciplines that require it to train instructors, coaches, and practitioners in all these disciplines.
Currently his emphasis is on training archery instructors for certification. He trains his members more than the public and enjoys teaching HS students in his club through a formal training and internship program to become level 1 instructors and mentors, as well as level 2. What Junior goes off to college having formally trained archers, led small groups in camps as an instructor, and is certified as an instructor, along with a great letter from Head Coach Daniel Tibbetts. This is one of his favorite things to do – help teens into college, develop life skills and confidence, and help them get into the college of their choice like he did with fencing.
Archery
Certified to train and certify level 1-2 archery instructors. Level 3 himself and preparing for level 4.
Fencing
9 Years in the Military Fencing Masters Program as an assistant and trained in Italy and France as fencing coach. Informally prepares instructors, for the Moniteur, Provosts and Fencing Master at Arms exams in the Italian, French, and US schools of fencing. Dan is the only coach in the world we know of that was examined in both Italian and French senior examining board members, and the only fencing master formally examined in France in all three swords foil, epee, and saber in what could be a coupe a decade or more. Also certified by the USFCA of America.
Horsemanship
Mentored many instructors in his school for the Certified Horsemanship Exams and in natural horsemanship methods with a base in the Parelli NH system – specializing in groundwork and liberty. His students have become rider instructors, horse trainers, and with some earning certificates in levels of the PNH school of horse training. Dan has spent years training at Parelli College in Colorado and traveling to train with level 5 masters and level 4 instructors. Dan has certificates specializing in PNH groundwork.
Fishing
Dan trains youth in casting, and fishing through the national in Schools Fishing Program that he certified as both an instructor himself, and as an instructor trainer. He also completed guide school at the Tahoe Flyfishing Outfitters Guide School. Dan has completed his guide license and insured and bonded. He teaches instructors the basics but enjoys teaching kids the most and does father son groups often.
Shooting Sports
He is currently training in NRA pistol, rifle, and shotgun to become certified as a teacher, and a teacher of instructors. This has always been a goal of his and started with shooting with his father who was a trap shooting competitor.
